Kathryn Murray St. John is a senior communications counselor with 25 years of experience in public affairs, media, government and corporate communications management. She brings to TheWadeGroup a diverse background in the public policy and communications fields. Her areas of expertise include crisis communications, strategic planning, issues management and media relations.
Most recently St. John served as director of communications for a national, nonprofit workforce housing organization, Homes for Working Families. In that capacity, she established public affairs strategies and oversaw all communications activities. She created valuable resources and tools for policymakers, business leaders and partner organizations to guide their efforts to increase working families’ access to affordable homes. Using a variety of tactics and vehicles, she worked to raise awareness of the critical need for affordable homes while simultaneously educating stakeholders about the organization’s mission and work.
St. John has extensive experience in supervising integrated communications operations designed to affect public policy, media coverage or government outcomes. She has managed integrated communications campaigns with media relations, public affairs, third-party relationship building and internal communications components. During her career, her clients have included Johnson & Johnson - Merck Consumer Pharmaceuticals Co.; The Lewin Group; Pharmacy Care Alliance, a joint venture of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores and Express Scripts; Boston Scientific; Boston Medical Center; BlueCross BlueShield of Massachusetts; and the Boston Red Sox.
St. John served as director of communications to the Republican National Committee in 1987 and 1988, where she managed the party's communications, public relations and advertising programs. From 1984 to 1987, St. John was vice president of a California public affairs advertising agency, where her accounts included corporate, nonprofit and ballot initiative campaigns. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in journalism from Bowling Green State University.
